Meet the Guest Speaker
Stephen Daniels, MD, PhD, MPH
Professor and Chair, Department of Pediatrics,
University of Colorado School of Medicine
Pediatrician-in-Chief & Chair of Pediatrics, Children’s Hospital Colorado

Dr. Daniels’ area of expertise is preventive cardiology. His studies focus on understanding causes of blood pressure elevation and cholesterol abnormalities in children and adolescents, particularly the role of obesity. He has researched the development of structural and functional abnormalities in the heart and vascular system, including abnormalities in pediatric patients with diabetes mellitus, as well as the relationship of left ventricular hypertrophy to obesity and hypertension. In addition to his research, he serves on the Board of Childhood Obesity, is co-author of an introductory textbook for medical students and is co-author and editor of Pediatric Prevention of Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Daniels was previously awarded the Gold Heart Award by the American Heart Association, the AHA’s highest volunteer honor.
